| The long-range goal of RCMAR is to improve the health
and well-being of older minority populations through the provision
of resources and mentorship designed to enable research to
be conducted that will identify ways to reduce health disparities.
The Administrative Core will coordinate research and training
to best meet this mission. Ensuring the integration of the
various cores and pilot projects requires a core program devoted
to the administrative and management issues of the RCMAR.
The administrative core for UCLA/Drew CHIME has six specific
aims:
1) To provide day-to-day management of UCLA/Drew CHIME;
2) To serve a fiscal management function for UCLA/Drew CHIME;
3) To coordinate the proposed activities and to maintain
internal information flow for activities and decisions. Specifically,
the administrative core will create mechanisms and procedures
to ensure that CHIME Cores interact to maximum benefit;
4) To coordinate the UCLA/Drew CHIME Program Emphases and
Outcomes contribution and work closely with the National RCMAR
Coordinating Center in developing and maintaining the Program
Emphasis and Outcomes Report. Specifically, the Administrative
Core will work collaboratively to synthesize and present the
scientific results from CHIME to maximize the effect on the
state of the science, health policy, and health practices
that can improve health disparities for minority elders;
5) To construct the CHIME External Advisory Board, organize
the annual meetings, and produce minutes from these for the
RCMAR National Coordinating Center and for NIA;
6) To oversee the annual selection of pilot studies and facilitate
linkage to either other existing centers or funded projects
with the appropriate mentors for the content area of interest.
